1. Who this policy is from

This Privacy Policy describes how E55 Publishing LLC(“Jote,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Jote service at jote.app. Mailing address: 1209 Mountain Road Pl, Ste N, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Privacy contact: legal@e55publishing.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and a password (or, if you use Google sign-in, the email address and basic profile information Google returns). Creators also provide a display name and may upload an avatar and banner.

Content you publish. Stories, audio, video, thumbnails, tags, and any other material you post to Jote.

Usage data. Pages you visit, posts you read, listen to, or watch, the format you choose, time spent, follows, tips, and basic device/browser data sent by your browser (IP address, user agent, screen size).

Payment data. When you tip a creator or a creator receives a payout, payment details are collected and processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not see or store full card numbers; we receive confirmation that a charge or payout occurred and limited metadata for accounting.

Cookies and similar tech. We use cookies and localStorage for sign-in sessions, dark-mode preference, reader bookmarks, and view de-duplication. Third-party services we embed may set their own cookies (see Section 5).

3. How we use information

• to provide and operate Jote (sign-in, posting, playback, tipping);
• to surface posts in feed, discover, and search;
• to count views, reads, and listens, and to dedupe repeated views;
• to process tips and creator payouts through Stripe;
• to communicate with you about the Service (e.g., security, policy updates);
• to detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, and policy violations;
• to comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (for users in the EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your information on the bases of (a) performance of our contract with you (operating the Service), (b) our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving the Service), (c) your consent (e.g., for certain cookies), and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

5. Service providers and ads

We rely on the following third-party providers:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
• Mux — video and audio hosting and streaming.
• Stripe — payments and creator payouts (Stripe Connect).
• Vercel — website hosting and request logs.
• Google — optional Sign in with Google.

Advertising. We may display ads served by third-party ad networks. Those networks may set cookies, use web beacons, and collect device identifiers and approximate location to deliver and measure ads. Each network operates under its own privacy policy. You can usually opt out of personalized advertising at optout.aboutads.info and youradchoices.com.

6. Sharing your information

We share information with the service providers in Section 5 to run the Service, with law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users, and with a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Data retention

We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. When you delete a post we remove the database row and ask Mux to delete the underlying asset. When you delete your account we remove your profile and content; some records (e.g., tip receipts, security logs) may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights email legal@e55publishing.com. You can also adjust browser cookie settings or use Do Not Track signals; please note we treat Do Not Track signals as a request and do our best to honor them.

9. Children

Jote is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, email legal@e55publishing.com and we will delete it.

10. International users

Jote is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S. your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have data protection rules different from your country.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and least-privilege access for admins. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and report any suspicious activity.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above and, where the change is material, take additional steps to notify you.
